You may be entitled to money towards the costs of buying school and foot wear for children returning to school. The Back to School Allowance 2020 is now open for applications. See link below to apply online.
€150 is available for each eligible child aged 4-11 years. The payment is €275 for each eligible child aged 12-22 years. How much parents receive depends on their level of income, number of children, and if parents are receiving a social protection payment.
A lot of families qualify automatically for the payment. Those that received the allowance last year should have received a letter in late June from the Department of Social Protection, stating the amount, and when the payment will be made. Families who received the Covid-19 social welfare payment may also be eligible to apply, depending on their individual circumstances.
